ABSTRACT

Leaf area index is a key biophysical parameter of crop anopies, from an agronomical point of view. The estimation of LAI is presented here, using scaling up and inversion of radiative transfer models, applied to Quickbird imagery. The performance of different vegetation indices in LAI estimation was also tested. Results obtained are consistent for LAI retrieval, and scaling up of RDVI provided the best estimations. KEY WORDS: leaf area index, corn, radiative transfer models, Quickbird, vegetation indices.
